ONE DROP’s first steps into the new decade were met with two huge successes, with LA SOIRÉE at Paris’s Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy and London’s Royal Albert Hall, on January 15 and 20 respectively. Hosting both events was ONE DROP creator Guy Laliberté, with the Chair of the Board of Directors of ONE DROP France Laurent Dassault joining him in Paris, and OXFAM CEO Barbara Stocking, in London. The evenings’ fundraisers resulted in €370,000 being collected from 600 special guests in Paris, and $640,000 was raised from the 2,500 tickets sold in London.
Paris and London represent just the first two cities of the LA SOIRÉE ONE DROP tour for this year. The next stops will be in New York, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Paris and Las Vegas, from June to December 2011! Funds raised during these dazzling benefit events—which include pre- and post-Cirque du Soleil performance receptions—go directly to furthering ONE DROP’s access-to-water projects in developing countries, as well as initiatives to sensitize people in developed nations. Throughout each of ONE DROP’s endeavours, we use arts and culture to educate, inspire and mobilize as many people as possible concerning this critical, global challenge.
