The entire team at ONE DROP™ had the privilege to welcome their Royal Highnesses, Charles, the Prince of Wales, and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall while in Montreal on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, during their official visit to Canada.
This meeting took place at the request of Prince Charles. Lili-Anna Pereša, Executive Director of ONE DROP, spent a considerable amount of time with the royal couple discussing the issues and challenges involving water in developed nations and developing countries alike. Raising awareness in industrialized nations of the water crisis, including access to water and the solutions put forth by ONE DROP, was just one of the subjects discussed. Following the discussion, the royal couple visited the International Headquarters of Cirque du Soleil with Mario D’Amico (Senior Vice-President, Marketing, Cirque du Soleil), Gaétan Morency (Vice-President, Citizenship, Cirque du Soleil), Lili-Anna Pereša and France Chrétien Desmarais (Vice-Chairperson, ONE DROP Board of Directors). Not only did the royal couple tour the creative studios and workshops, they even took in a brief showing of the artists’ general training sessions.
Despite his very hectic schedule, Prince Charles took a few minutes to chat with members of the ONE DROP team. The employees took the opportunity to offer their distinguished guests a figurative drop of water, a symbol of ONE DROP’s mission: Water for all, all for water. It goes without saying that our entire team was overjoyed at the level of interest shown by Prince Charles and the Duchess in our cause.
