The ONE DROP Foundation believes that water is part of humanity’s collective heritageIt is a resource that is provided by nature and vital to all living things, and it must be preserved and accessible to all. Our challenge is twofold: we must ensure the world’s population has sufficient water in the present through proper distribution, while also preserving this precious resource for future generations.
The ONE DROP Foundation is an independent organization administered by a Board of Directors that is responsible for ensuring adherence to the Foundation’s goals, providing strategic directions and approving annual plans and budgets. The Board is also responsible for assessing, on an annual basis, the outcome of the Foundation’s activities and approving its audited financial statements.
The ONE DROP Foundation has adopted a funding model based on partnerships and complementary interests with other organizations that share Guy Laliberté’s vision: fighting poverty around the world by giving everyone access to water and raising awareness of better usage practices in both the southern and northern hemispheres.
Funds are used to implement projects that give people access to water. The sustainability of these projects is ensured by contributions from the founder of the Cirque du Soleil, its employees and other financial partners.
Anyone can support the ONE DROP action by making a financial contribution to help further projects in both developing and developed countries.
The ONE DROP Foundation does not accept online donations. Anyone interested in financially supporting ONE DROP’s projects is invited to complete a donation form (available online) and mail it with their cheque to the Foundation’s head office in Montreal, Canada. Individuals may not volunteer to work on ONE DROP projects in various countries. One Drop projects are undertaken in partnership with Oxfam International, which is responsible for all technical aspects and for providing cooperants and other resources according to local needs.
