ONE DROP’s multisensory experience, AQUA, will be at Ottawa’s Canadian Museum of Nature until September 6, 2010. Through music, 360° projections and interactive, state-of-the-art visual effects, AQUA encourages participants to become engaged in water-related issues so that everyone can share equal and safe access to this precious resource, today and tomorrow.
As AQUA visits different cities, it helps citizens learn more about their city’s water issues and what they can do to improve their situation by visiting ONE DROP’s website. For example, residents of Ottawa use an average of 250 litres of water per day. How do we know this? The city oversees its population’s water consumption with 154,000 water meters monitoring every home and business. Using this system, the city has learned that up to 10,000 litres of water can be lost in a year to something as seemingly trivial as a leaky faucet. Thanks to these meters, residents and business owners in Canada’s capital are now more aware of their water consumption, so they can change their habits and reduce waste.
The AQUA experience is included in the Canadian Museum of Nature’s general admission fee.
