A prolific actor, producer and stage director, Fernand Rainville has been faithfully and sensitively depicting the Quebec cultural scene since graduating from the National Theatre School in 1985. He worked as Stage Director and Director of Creation for the Cirque du Soleil show Wintuk prior to joining the AQUA team.
Marie-Claire Lagacé – Ideas and creative direction
Marie-Claire Lagacé has been working in the field of theme exhibitions since 1989. A graduate of the École de design industriel in 1988, she has assisted in the creation of many local and international exhibitions. In 2004, she joined Cirque du Soleil as Assistant to the Set Designer for LOVE. She then held the position of Director of Creation in the Creative Content Division.
Ann Arson – Original script
Ann Arson has over 20 years' experience in writing for movies and television. She graduated from Concordia University with a bachelor's degree in communications (1989) and from the Institut national de l'image et du son (1998). She has obtained numerous grants and prizes and received three Gémeaux nominations for the quality of her television productions.
Freeworm – Music
Freeworm (aka Vincent Letellier) has three albums to his credit: Vegetation=Fuel, Solar Power and Timbervision. He currently works with The National Parcs, a multimedia group that produces avant-garde pop music from audiovisual samplings of forests. He is also known for his soundtracks for international, socially themed documentaries. Having already mixed music with water on many occasions in his own recordings of Quebec and Brazilian forests, Freeworm composed the AQUA soundtrack, titled A Journey into the World of Water.
gsmprjct˚ – Set design and props
gsmprjct˚ is a collective of four integrated teams (creation, integration, technology and media), pioneers and major players in the field of exhibit design and production. Working closely with ONE DROP™, gsmprjct° assisted in set research and design, and in the technical development, building and installation of the AQUA project.
Lightemotion – Lighting design
Founded by François Roupinian, Lightemotion has more than 25 years' lighting design experience. The company has a global presence, and has carried out many lighting projects in Singapore, New Zealand, Europe and the United States. Closer to home, the firm designed the exterior lighting for the Cinémathèque québécoise and Newtown, and was mandated for the lighting of Place des Arts and the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal. It also handles the lighting for AO, La Fantastique Légende presented in Drummondville every summer.
TOXA – Visual content
A hybrid between a communications firm and a production company, TOXA is strategic creation cell that designs, develops and produces multiplatform content. For the AQUA project, TOXA handled the artistic direction of audiovisual content and ensured consistency with creative partners Fly Studio and Float 4.
Fly Studio – Visual content
Founded in 1997, Fly Studio is known for its expertise in 3D animation, compositing and broadcast design. For the AQUA visual, the Fly team developed a 3D 360° view, putting the spectator at the heart of the sensory experience.
FLOAT4 – Interactive effects
Float4 Interactive is a company dedicated to developing and deploying cutting-edge immersive and interactive multimedia environments. By combining real-time visual effects and movement-based interactions, Float4 added interactivity to the 360-degree immersive screens used in AQUA.
Sid Lee – Commercial creativity
Since 1993, Sid Lee has developed brand experiences by creating products, services and spaces. For AQUA, Sid Lee did the website, interactive kiosks, projections in hall 3, plus part of the design for hall 3.
