Canadian astronaut Julie Payette and internationally celebrated author Yann Martel will read the first part of the tale. Cirque du Soleil will stage a unique poetic performance to the music of composer Simon Carpentier at la TOHU. Inspired by First Nations myths and legends, the segment will feature aerial acts and Inuk singer Élisapie Isaac.

The Honorable Al Gore
Since his earliest days in the U.S. Congress 30 years ago, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore has been a leading advocate for confronting the threat of global warming. Mr. Gore is the author of An Inconvenient Truth, a best-selling book and the subject of the movie of the same name, one of the top documentary films in history. In 2007, Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Cirque du Soleil is a major Quebec-based organization providing high-quality artistic entertainment. Cirque du Soleil has brought wonder and delight to almost 90 million spectators in over 200 cities on five continents. In 2009, Cirque will present 20 shows simultaneously throughout the world. The company has received such prestigious awards as the Emmy, Drama Desk, Bambi, ACE, Gémeaux, Félix and Rose d'Or de Montreux. Cirque du Soleil International Headquarters are in Montreal, Canada. Parallel to its live shows, social action has been "anchored in the genes" of Cirque from the start.
Dr. David Suzuki
Dr. David Suzuki, Co-Founder of the David Suzuki Foundation, is an award-winning scientist and environmentalist. He is renowned for his radio and television programs that explain the complexities of the natural sciences in a compelling, easily understood way. Dr. Suzuki has received high acclaim consistently for his thirty years of award-winning work in broadcasting. Dr. Suzuki is also recognized as a world leader in sustainable ecology.
Élisapie Isaac
Inuk singer, composer and filmmaker Élisapie Isaac, is a proud northern artist, deeply connected to her people and land. Her debut solo album There Will Be Stars reveals yet another facet of the trilingual songwriter's talents.
Julie Payette
Julie Payette was selected in 1992 by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) to become an astronaut. After various training at CSA and NASA, she worked as a technical advisor for the Mobile Servicing System (MSS), an advanced robotics system contributed by Canada to the International Space Station. She also worked as a CAPCOM (Capsule Communicator) at Mission Control Center in Houston, Texas. Julie Payette was the first Canadian astronaut aboard the International Space Station in 1999. Last July, she returned from a successful mission where she visited the Space Station for the second time and joined CSA astronaut Robert Thirsk.
Simon Carpentier
Quebec composer Simon Carpentier first made his mark writing music for commercials and picked up more than 20 Quebec and international awards between 1989 and 1997. His name appears in the credits of a dozen or so films and he has worked on numerous TV shows for a variety of networks. Simon Carpentier has also written the music for Cirque du Soleil shows Zumanity and Wintuk.
Yann Martel
Internationally celebrated writer and Man Booker Prize winner Yann Martel was born in Spain and grew up in different parts of the world. After studying philosophy at Trent University, he began to write while doing various odd jobs. He is the author of The Facts Behind the Helsinki Roccamatios, Self and Life of Pi.
