LESS WALKING AND MORE TIME FOR WOMEN

A recent study revealed that our project in Burkina Faso contributed to a significant decrease in the travel distance from the house to the water point. Indeed, while the average distance was 1 km in 2012, it went down to an average of 219 m in 2015. Also, the average waiting time was approximately 1 hour at the beginning of the Project, but people now wait less than 7 minutes at the pump. This has a strong positive impact on women and girls since they are responsible for water collection. The chore is now less time-consuming and they can benefit from additional spare time that they use for productive, educational or leisure activities.
