As part of the social art initiatives in Odisha, when she was contacted to play the lead role in the short film that was to be shot in her village, Kumari accepted with enthusiasm. She got motivated to take part in a film to raise awareness about water issues. She recalls the social art team who visited her community: “They were like magicians. They moved around in the village the whole day, talked to everyone and took photographs. At night, they showed the pictures and the films and it was magical. They touched our hearts.”
