What if an artist offered you the chance to see Earth through his eyes? And what if that view was looking down at the planet from 350 km above the surface? GAIA is that opportunity and Guy Laliberté, Founder of Cirque du Soleil® and Chair of ONE DROP, is the artist who uses photos and words to share his visual experience from orbit. Three distinct compendiums are available as works of art known as GAIA. All proceeds from the sale of GAIA will help ONE DROP initiatives around our planet take water further.
“For me, GAIA is the expression of paradise. She has inspired in me the desire to live and given me the will to take good care of her. As a species, we have no choice, as we are ultimately responsible to future generations.” – Guy Laliberté
During 2011, Guy and publisher Assouline are hosting GAIA launches in Monaco (May 27), Paris (May 30), New York (June 1), Montreal (June 21) and Los Angeles (June 27), as well as Las Vegas and Moscow in November. The events will include signings by Guy—who took each of the vivid photographs from the International Space Station during his October 2009, 11-day Poetic Social Mission. The images within GAIA are a rare and fascinating collection, showing our planet as rarely seen before.
