Al Gore was there. It was a grand event. The objectives of the Millennium Summit 2010 included spotlighting the work of organizations and individuals who strive to improve quality of life around the world, and inspiring and preparing young leaders who, through their actions, can contribute to sustainable development.
Day two of the three-day summit (April 20-22) was “Experts Forum” day. ONE DROP’s Executive Director, Lili-Anna Pereša, joined the likes of Raymond Jost (Secretary General, International Secretary for Water), Segundo Velasquez (President of Mano a Mano) and Riccardo Petrella (Secretary General, International Committee for a World Water Contract) in a midday round table discussion on the challenge of water. As panellists were encouraged to present their respective organizations’ recent efforts, Lili-Anna described the “tripod” approach used by ONE DROP, which involves three distinct, yet complementary, components: a technical component, a microcredit component, and a social arts and popular education component..
