Water is essential to life. Be it a poverty-stricken, rural area of Central America or downtown Montreal, it all starts with a drop. Access to safe water gives any community the opportunity to learn, grow and flourish. That is why ONE DROP uses several approaches— from artistic to financial—to communicate its message and make a difference.
Using the expansive arts and entertainment district of Montreal as a canvas, four unique artists have added refreshing expressions of water-inspired art for all to see from June 9 to September 17, 2011. URBAN+EAU’s creations will be beautifully integrated into the city-scape, using light posts, a building’s wall, a street corner and even the street itself.
ONE DROP’s URBAN+EAU, a project in collaboration with Montreal’s Partenariat du Quartier des spectacles (a group valuing the creativity, innovation and avant-garde nature of Montreal), is an urban-art initiative with multiple water-related messages aimed at helping citizens understand just how this vital resource is as much a social issue as an environmental one and how, as a source of inspiration for all human communities, it is at the very heart of a city’s landscape.
